Alfa Romeo leaves WTCC, 2005-11-05, 00:51:39
Today Alfa Romeo confirmed that they are pulling out of WTCC, something that has been rumoured for long. The reason for this is that the current 156 is going out of production and Alfa does not find the new 159 suitable for WTCC. But the italian manufacturer will return in 2007.
"Racing keeps being part of the Alfa culture, but we are taking one year off in order to decide how to race in the future and with what car," brand manager Antonio Baravalle said to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Alfa Romeo is still in with a chance to leave on top. Fabrizio Giovanardi is in the run for the WTCC title which will be decided between him Priaulx and Dirk Müller at Macau in two weeks.
No voe... Hyviä kisoja on ollut bemaria vastaan, molemmat klassisia touring car kisojen osallistujia.
Jokin aika sitten ajattelinkin 159:stä juttua lukiessani että bemarin 5 sarjalaisen painoinen auto ei varmaan muutu kovin helposti hyväksi kilpa-autoksi, luulisin että juuri tuo paino on jarruna. Ehkä joku pienempi malli tulee sitten kisaamaan 2007
